This is hands down my favorite sushi spot! Every roll I’ve tried has been amazing, but the Dabomb Roll and 68St Roll are next level. Super fresh and amazing flavor.

Went to Umi around 5pm and felt that it wasn't too busy, but the atmosphere was still warm. I was waited on by a waitress and a trainee and they were both polite and professional. There was a mistake with my poke bowl and it had originally come out with a different type of fish, but the waitress caught the mistake, apologized, and brought it back before I fully processed that there was a mistake. I got the tuna poke bowl and it was very good. My friend got the Hibachi and he also really enjoyed it. It was my friend's birthday and they also offered to give him a birthday dessert. Looking forward to coming back and trying more!

Umi had a lovely atmosphere, great service, and great food overall. Compared to other sushi restaurants I have been to, they did not charge extra for side sauces. Their tempura rolls were warm when presented, which is always a great plus. I was a little bit disappointed with my salmon tempura roll as I am used to having it more simple without many additions, but the pros definitely out shine the cons. This one of the top sushi restaurants I have been to thus far in the grand rapids area.

We have been to other Umi locations in the past but this one kind of disappointed us. To start we got the crab Rangoon, a classic but we wish they were fried a little longer. I got the yuzu martini which was more of an orange flavor but really yummy. We ordered a side of yaki udon noodles which had a bunch of fresh garlic and was very delicious. For rolls we ordered the Fancy bacon, Mt Fuji, Victory Se Maki and the Volcano Maki. They didn’t hold together very well and honestly the flavors weren’t going together very well so we didn’t care for the rolls as much as we hoped.
